I've always admired the youth in our church for going to early morning seminary. I've substituted a couple of times for seminary and it was a killer. 6am is early! By 10:00 I was ready for lunch and a nap. I just think it's amazing that thousands of high schoolers around the world are getting up between 5 and 5:30 to go to a church class and study the scriptures. They are truly dedicated and extraordinary.
I never had early morning seminary. I had release time, which means it was one of my high school class periods and I would walk across the street to a small church building. I don't remember a lot about my experience, except that my teacher liked me and I loved the songs specifically written for seminary. I can still sing at least one of them.
So now I have the opportunity to experience early morning seminary. I was asked to teach the seniors in our ward, which includes my own daughter, Sierra. They are a great class... I've known all but one since they were preschool age, some even as babies. I've been able to watch them grow up together. Now I get to see them every morning, bright and early. I'll admit it's been hard to get up and be ready to teach a lesson every day, but I love it!
1 week down, 34 to go.
