It is always so fun when our family gets together and this past Memorial Day weekend was no exception.
I played the role of "entertainment director" and tried to keep them busy with activities.
We've been telling Courtney about the blueberry farm in Temecula, so we had to go berry picking. We ended up bringing home 11 very full pints of blueberries. They are so good picked fresh. I think everything we put them in tasted better...smoothies, muffins, pancakes...

Saturday we went to Moonlight Beach in Encitinas. It was the PERFECT day at the beach. Warm, peaceful, & fun!!
My kids all love the water. When they were little it always made them happy. And as teenagers it put them in a good mood. It's still one of their favorite things to do...hang out by a pool.
This float toy was a big hit.
I have figured out the best way to not cook dinner...a cook-off.
So we had a "Slider Cook-Off". Everyone (except me) cooked and grilled sliders to perfection. They were all tasty, but Stan & Daniel took 1st prize.
Out kids seem to like competitions, so we played several games from the
gameshow, "Minute To Win It".
After a game involving tissues, they tossed them up like confetti.
Another Minute-to-Win-It game..."Tipsy"
You have to drink the perfect amount of soda to stand the can on its edge.
Sierra came in first.
Down by LaJolla Cove is a sea cave that can be accessed on shore. It's called the Sunny Jim Cave. The entrance is in a little shop and you go down this man-made tunnel to the cave.
This picture was taken above the sea cave. It was so beautiful!!
(You can see LaJolla Shores across the way)
Although, a man just down alittle bit from us had a heart attack. The lifeguards performed CPR on him and revived him just as the ambulance arrived.

We also spent a day at Coronado Beach. I had forgotten how pretty it is and the sand is fine and powdery. The wind blew the whole time we were there, so it was a little cold, but the kids went in the water and Callie & Daniel built a sandcastle.
When I first married Stan, he never read. How times change...now, he takes a book with him everywhere. I think he especially loves to read on the beach.
...until next time

What fun!! I love that you never have to leave Southern Cal to have the time of your life!! Great pictures! Tess & Tayli played minute to win it for a YW/YM activity and had a blast. I had never heard of it until then.
Looks like you had a lot of fun :) Guess Stan is becoming like me - always having a book to read :)
I loved seeing all the pictures. It looks like you all had a lot of fun. You do make a great "entertainment director", Maria.
